New iPhone Features + Price Cut = More Consumer Interest

A NOW team member described the Apple Store last weekend in Raleigh, N.C. as "a madhouse." I received word that the Charleston, S.C. store was equally as busy. Consumers were likely taking a glimpse at the new iPhone 3GS and the recently marked-down 3G models.

On June 22, Apple announced that it sold over a million iPhone 3GS models in only three days. Six million had downloaded the new iPhone 3.0 software in the first five days of its release.

New features of the 3GS include:
>Improved speed and performance (up to twice as fast as iPhone 3G)
>Longer battery life
>High-quality 3 megapixel autofocus camera
>Video recording capabilities
>Hands free voice control

The new OS includes new features such as:
>Cut, Copy and Paste
>MMS
>Spotlight™ Search
>Landscape keyboard

NPD Group's latest report shows that the two main reasons consumers have not bought iPhones are "high price" and "lack of interest."
